Parade Steps Off En Route To Fest

The annual Elk Grove Village Hometown Parade steps off from Tonne Road and Elk Grove Boulevard at 6 p.m. this Saturday, June 20.

This year's theme is a "Star Spangled Salute to America."

Grand marshals for this year will be Don and Helen Giancaterina. Their son, Capt. Craig Giancaterina, is currently serving in the United States Army's 287th Military Police Company in Iraq on his third tour.

This year, grand marshals can be anyone serving in the military on active duty or members of their families if they are not able to attend.

The parade has 70 marching units this year and ends at the annual RotaryFest where a fireworks display awaits.

Village Trustee and Parade Committee Chair Nancy Czarnik said the budget for this year's parade was $17,500.
