Religion
Elk Grove Baptist Church Lead Pastor Curt Hansen and Worship Coordinator Mike Myers host guests from area churches and schools in a community forum, "Race, Religion and Run for the White House," exploring how Americans of different races look at how religion and politics mix (or don't mix) in different ways. The 90-minute discussion will be Saturday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m., at Elk Grove Baptist, 801 Beisner Rd., Elk Grove Village. In addition to considering issues raised by presidential candidates senators John McCain and Barack Obama, the evening will offer historical and contemporary perspectives upon how political parties have sought churches - particularly African-American churches - as potential campaign camp grounds. Although a political forum, this program will be apolitical. Campaign or endorsement literature will not be dispersed. The forum is free to the public. For further information, call Elk Grove Baptist, 1-847-593-8337, or visit www.elkgrovebaptistchurch.org.
