Arlington Heights Community Concert Band will play an outdoor concert in North School Park, 400 N. Arlington Hts. Rd, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. Musicians will play under the direction of Conductor Adam La Spata. "A Love for All Time," will include familiar melodies and arrangements, as well as marches. The selections include "Miss Saigon," "Salute to Ol' Blue Eyes," and "Swing the Mood." This is the first concert of the summer series, with future concerts scheduled for July 16 and Aug. 13. There is no admission fee, but listeners should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating in the park.

Second Suburb Players announces auditions, rehearsals and performances (and behind-the-scenes opportunities) for "Anything Goes," its upcoming spring production. Those age 14-20 (13 with reference) interested in participating are sought. Auditions were held May 19-20, with callbacks May 21-22. Rehearsals are May 27-July 10, with performances July 11-20 at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine. Contact the Players in advance to schedule an audition appointment, to inquire about possible additional alternate audition dates/times, or for any other additional information. Walk-ins will be welcome, but will be taken as (and if) there is time. Audition appointments may last from 45 minutes to an hour.

Special event days at Elk Grove Park District's Pirate's Cove are being held on Fridays. Each special event includes giveaway items, prizes, and games. "Haunted Cove" is on June 20, "Wizard Fest" will be June 27 and "Patriotic Party" occurs on July 4. The theme park is located on Leicester Road just south of Biesterfield Road. It is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The park is also available for birthday parties and group rentals.

Clubs & Organizations

Movin' On is a nondenominational social group whose purpose is to provide a welcoming, social situation exclusively for widowed men and women in the northwest suburbs. Upcoming events include: Friday, June 20 - Twin Lakes Concert - Group, "Big Guitars from Memphis". The free series is held at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Palatine. Food, including a fish fry, is available at the clubhouse. Get together with Movin' On members to enjoy music and refreshments.

Sunshine Through Golf Foundation (STGF) is partnering with Schaumburg Twp. Elementary School District 54 Special Olympics to provide four weeks of golf instruction to individuals with physical and mental challenges. The camp, to be held at Fox Run Golf Links driving range in Elk Grove Village, will run every Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. through July 15. The camp program is designed to accommodate all organizations who serve individuals with special needs; as it is a feeder system for Illinois Special Olympic tournament players and at the same time can introduce golf as another recreational activity to the first time golfer.

"Les Bavards du Nord", a monthly francophone lunch group, will meet again on Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m., for lunch and conversation in French at a Buffalo Grove-area restaurant to be announced later via e-mail. Participants have various levels of proficiency in speaking French, including native speakers. No membership required; listening in French is required. On Sunday, June 22, North American Martyrs, Knights of Columbus, will host a blood drive in the St. John Brebeuf Parish Ministry Center, 8305 N. Harlem Ave., Niles. Religion

The St. Stephen Rosary/Altar Society is holding its Annual Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hanley Hall. Parking adjacent to the church at 1280 Prospect, Des Plaines. A wide variety of items will be available, including furniture, TVs, computers, stereo/radios, clothing, toys, jewelry, books and numerous household items. Donations are welcome and may be dropped off on June 23 & 25, from 2 to 4 p.m.; June 24 & 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. Items must be clean and in good condition.
