Sweeney Calls On Kotowski To Vote Down Pay Increase

Republican Senate challenger Mike Sweeney (33d) is calling on opponent, State Sen. Dan Kotowski, to vote "no" on a proposed legislative pay raise.

According to Sweeney, Kotowski voted "yes" last year with Senate President Emil Jones.

The State House voted to reject the proposed pay raise Wednesday, May 7.

If the Senate doesn't vote to reject the same bill, the pay raise will automatically go into effect.

Sweeney stated, "Voting to reject a pay raise should be automatic given the current economic situation in Illinois and the mismanagement of our tax dollars. I pledge that when I am elected state senator, I will not vote for and I will not accept any pay raises."

Mike Sweeney is the Republican State Senate candidate for the 33d district. The 33d Senate district encompasses portions of Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Elk Grove, Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows and Chicago's 41st Ward.

Sweeney is Elk Grove Township Clerk, Elk Grove Township Republican Committeeman and a lifelong resident of the 33d Senate District.
