Village To Honor Service Groups

Community service efforts by several area youth groups will be celebrated at Elk Grove Village Hall this Tuesday, May 13.

Mayor Craig Johnson and village trustees, as well as the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, will recognize those groups and individuals for their efforts in making the community a better place to live and work.

The evening will begin with an open house featuring displays of service projects from 6 to 7 p.m. in the lower level of Elk Grove Village Hall. Following the open house, festivities will move to the boardroom, where each youth group or individual will be recognized by Johnson and presented a certificate of recognition from the Community Character Coalition.

Examples of projects being recognized include: food pantry drives, blood drives, youth assisting seniors, creating and selling pins to raise money for autism research, book drives for low income schools, campaigns to collect toys for children at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, cancer walks, and mentoring and providing assistance to younger students.
