Conant, Palatine Deal With Threats
Township High School Dist. 211 students and staff were faced with a couple of potentially violent threats on two different days within the past week.
This past Monday, a threat was found in the girls' restroom at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates.
School staff were in constant contact with Hoffman Estates police. Authorities said they do not believe the message found was a "viable threat."
According to Conant Principal Tim Cannon, the message left in the bathroom referred to a possible incident that was supposed to occur the following day on Tuesday.
On Tuesday of this week, all students and staff entered through Entrance 1. All privileges of study hall options were suspended and students were not permitted in the hallways without a pass. Also, restroom usage was restricted and supervision was increased.
Additional police were present at the school on Tuesday, and no one was injured following the threat.
A threat also occurred last Friday at Palatine High School causing the school to be locked down for two hours as police searched the school for a reported bomb.
Police were unable to find any hazardous materials and no one was injured in that incident as well. An afternoon assembly was cancelled but students were dismissed at their usual time.
Authorities and school staff are still investigating who was responsible for the two threats.
