Elk Grove High School's "Green Grens" environmental club will launch( an energy saving campaign called, "School Light Savings Time," at the( school tomorrow (Friday), with the help of every classroom teacher.

"We are planning to have the teachers use only half of the lights in ( their classrooms," said Green Grens sponsor Steve Prorak. "This will not( only save energy and money while reducing pollution, but it will also help( create awareness among students and staff. We hope that it will show( staff members that they can use reduced lighting and still conduct a( normal class."

Junior Matt Bizjack, a Green Grens member, first proposed the idea of( an energy-saving day to the club, who endorsed it and set it in( motion. ( "This actually started in February as part of a discussion of things ( we could do on a local level that could involve the entire school," said( Prorak.

Elk Grove's administrative team and the entire staff are all supportive of the plan, according to Prorak.

If tomorrow's (Friday) event is( successful, the Green Grens "hope" to produce educational videos about it. Ultimately, the club hopes to make the eco-friendly experiment a regular( event at Elk Grove High School.
