Elk Grove Baptist To Host Forum On 'Wright Stuff'

Clergy, candidates and color are topics of discussion during "The Wright Stuff," an open forum, hosted by Elk Grove Baptist Church, Sunday, May 18, at 7 p.m. This public forum will focus on questions on Christianity, politics and race raised by recent comments by Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Barack Obama.

The forum will feature observations by Rev. Curt Hansen, Lead Pastor of EGBC, and Rev. Lucious Fullwood, Senior Pastor of Bellevue Baptist in Chicago, and will be moderated by Michael Edgar Myers, EGBC Worship Coordinator and artistic director of Kingdom Impact Theatre. "The Wright Stuff" presentation is an extension of the semi-annual shared worship visits between Elk Grove, a suburban predominately Anglo congregation, and Bellevue, an African-American congregation from Chicago's Southside.

Since 1987 each congregation visited the other's church once a year to present a Service of Worship so the two churches can worship as one.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the traditional potluck dinner between the congregations. Doors open to the public at 6:45 for the forum. There is no admission charge for the forum. Those interested in attending dinner must reserve a spot by May 12.
