'Fallen Soldiers' Scholarships Available To Local Students
Three scholarships totaling $9,000 from the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Scholarship Program will be awarded in 2008 to be used at a four-year college or university, a junior college, a trade school or vocational school.
The Fallen Soldiers Memorial Scholarship is a joint effort between Elk Grove Village and the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove.
These scholarships are based upon the "pillar" of citizenship. They honor four young citizens of Elk Grove Village who died during battle: James S. Cronin, Philip E. Frank, John T. Olsen, and Adriana N. Salem.
Scholarship applicants must be Elk Grove Village residents, U.S. citizens and graduating seniors. The scholarships are not based on financial need and there are no restrictions regarding race, religion, national origin, gender or physical disability.
The Scholarship Committee of the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove will review scholarship applications. Only completed applications with all required documentation will be considered.
Applications are available on the Coalition's website or at Elk Grove, St. Viator and Driscoll high schools. Completed applications must be received no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 11.
