Lower Wacker Crash Claims EG Woman
Police said an Elk Grove Village woman died a few hours after she was ejected from a motorcycle when it hit a taxi in Chicago early Sunday morning.
Florence Nicioli, 44, of Elk Grove, was pronounced dead at 5:08 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, due to multiple injuries, according to an official at Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Nicioli and Edward Colby, 38, of Wood Dale, crashed their motorcycle into a taxicab on Lower Wacker Drive in Chicago at 2:40 a.m., according to police.
According to Chicago Police Officer in the News Affairs Department, John Henry, the taxi was turning left heading south when it was struck by a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going eastbound on Lower Wacker Drive.
Laura Kubiak, police officer in the News Affairs Department said both people were ejected from the motorcycle and neither was wearing helmets.
The driver of the taxi cab and Nicioli were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The taxicab driver was listed in fair condition, according to police.
Colby was rushed to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County for an emergency operation for multiple injuries, according to Henry.
Colby was charged Monday at 3:51 p.m. by State's Attorney O'Malley with one count of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide, according to Kubiak.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Colby was reportedly still admitted to Stroger Hospital recovering from his injuries before facing legalities.
Efforts by the Journal to reach Nicioli's family for comment were unsuccessful as of Tuesday afternoon.
