    Threat Sends Extra Police To Elk Grove HS

    Elk Grove High School held classes Thursday amid heavy police presence after a threatening message was found on a bathroom wall at the end of the school day Wednesday.

    Car Goes Airborne In Nasty Wreck

    A crash at the beginning of the afternoon rush hour Wednesday in Elk Grove Village sent one car leaping skyward before landing upside down on the hood of another.

    Shake, rattle and roll. That's what some people in the area were experiencing last week when a 5.2 earthquake centered near the Indiana/Illinois border woke people up from their sleep at around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 18.

    Village Staying Right Where It Is

    Mayor Craig Johnson rejected the idea that Elk Grove Village should consider breaking away from Cook County after meeting with County Board President Todd Stroger on Tuesday.

    "Tank" the African Spurred Tortoise was one of several "friends" brought by Jim Nesci of Cold Blooded Creatures to raise our awareness of the animals with which we share this planet during Sunday's grand opening of the Olmstead Park nature shack in Elk Grove Village.     $80.2 Million Budget OKd

    Elk Grove Village trustees adopted a budget of $80,285,667 for fiscal year 2008-2009 at their Tuesday, Apr. 22 meeting.

    Students Take Chinese Protests Downtown

    Big Pay Hikes In Store For Village Servants

    Non-union Elk Grove Village employees from crossing guards to village trustees, the village manager and the mayor himself will see a raise in wages after a vote by the Village Board on Tuesday, Apr. 8.

    Using Elk Grove High School's cafeteria as a backdrop, U.S. Congressmen Peter Roskam (left) and Mark Kirk announce Tuesday sponsorship of a bill aimed at improving food safety for an ever increasing imported food supply. "The threat of contaminated food imports reaching our families' plate is real, not hypothetical," Roskam said.
