Parade Winners Recognized

Winners in five separate categories of the Des Plaines July 4th Parade were officially presented their awards at Monday night's City Council meeting in City Hall.

Plagues were presented to the recipients by members of the Des Plaines Area Jaycees, which organized and supervised the Parade and fireworks show in the evening of July 4.

Presented awards were:

Best Commercial Float---Kiddie Junction

Best Non-commercial entry---Cub Scout Pack 25

Best Overall Entry---Rand Park Dog Training Club

Best Antique Car---John Tuleweit

Most Creative Entry---G.L. Hills Funeral Home.

At Monday night's presentation, Parade Co-chairman Jean Marella thanked the five judges of the contest. They were: Todd Wessell, managing editor of the Journal & Topics Newspapers; Sandra Norlin, Des Plaines Library administrator; Pat Ornberg, executive director of the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce; Bill Haeger, Jr. of the Haeger Automotive Group; and a representative of Ameritech.
