Wash Of Worldy Proportion Sets Guinness Record
It was all bubbles, shiny cars and laughter last Saturday at Wally's CARSTAR auto shop, 1200 E. Golf Rd., Des Plaines.
Sixty cars were washed by members of local Cub Scout Pack 25 as part of a massive effort by CARSTAR stores throughout North America to set the Guinness world record for most cars washed in one day.
According to Sherri Slater of Wally's, the record was set when more than 4,000 cars were washed last Saturday at 200 stores.
"The scouts were so excellent," said Slater. The owner of each vehicle washed was asked to give a $10 donation. Half of the money raised in the U.S. went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the other half to the scouts.
"We really had a great time," Slater added.
