Des Plaines Plans For First Two Cameras

Motorists who pass through one or two of Des Plaines' busiest intersections can expect to have their driving skills monitored more closely beginning next fall with the anticipated activation of the city's first two red light cameras.

Police Chief Jim Prandini said RedSpeed Illinois is in the process of conducting a six-month study of some of the city's busiest and most dangerous intersections. That information will be used to determine where the cameras will be positioned. City records show that the two busiest corners are Touhy and Mt. Prospect Road and Golf and River Road.

Red Speed is studying local traffic by personal observation and through city and state traffic accident records.
