Police Blotter

RESISTING

CHARGED

Mirza Rubina, 19, of 2076 Ash St., Des Plaines, was charged with resisting police, battery to police officer, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police had her in custody at the police station at 1:30 a.m. May 2 where she was allegedly trying to bond out from the alcohol charge. Rubina allegedly became belligerent, screaming obscenities at officers, and then started swinging her arms towards police. Officers tried to control her, but she allegedly shoved an officer into a door and kicked another before being subdued and placed into a cell. The original charges stemmed from a premise check in the 1900 block of Touhy Avenue when police allegedly found her and Fritz Pompilus, 23, of 4702 Larch Ave., Glenview, in a parking lot. Both had allegedly been drinking vodka. Pompilus was charged with encouraging the delinquency of a minor.

DISORDERLY

CONDUCT

Robert J. Wrobel, 34, of 647 S. Metropolitan Way #506, Des Plaines, was charged with disorderly conduct at 10:56 p.m. May 3. Police responded to his building for a report of loud music. Officers determined the music was allegedly coming from Wrobel's apartment, knocked on his door, and asked him to turn it down, according to the police report. Wrobel allegedly agreed and went back into his apartment. Officers waited for a few moments, heard Wrobel allegedly yelling about police coming to his apartment, and then heard the music increase in volume. Officers again knocked on the door and Wrobel allegedly told the officers he knew their boss and their jobs were in jeopardy. Police asked him to lower the volume of the music to not disturb his neighbors and Wrobel allegedly used obscenities regarding the officers and his neighbors. Officers then took him into custody.

Richard Otero, 19, of 2382 Noel St. #D, Des Plaines, was charged with disorderly conduct at 9:17 p.m. May 2. He allegedly threatened to harm a 21-year-old Des Plaines man in the 1800 block of South Pine Court.

BATTERY

CHARGED

Juan C. Gonzalez, 22, of 815 E. Oakton St. #99, Des Plaines, was charged with battery at

12:02 a.m. May 5. He allegedly punched a 27-year-old man in the face during a disturbance in the 2100 block of Chestnut Street. Gonzalez fled and officers took him into custody at his home.

OBSTRUCTING

CHARGED

Abel Valladares, 25, of 3049 S. Sacramento Ave., Chicago, was charged with obstructing justice, no valid driver's license, and obstruction of registration plate. An officer stopped him at 9:29 a.m. Apr. 30 in the 1100 block of South Lee Street for the alleged equipment violation. He allegedly gave police a fictitious name and was identified through fingerprints, according to the police report.

Ricardo Belman, 32, of 1627 Howard Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with obstructing justice at 7:30 p.m. May 4. He allegedly gave police a fictitious name during an investigation of a traffic accident near his home.

DRUG

CHARGES

Frank S. Sabo, 22, of 1370 Washington St. #3SE, Des Plaines, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 4 p.m. May 1. Police were investigating a report of a disturbance in his building when they noticed a strong odor of suspected burning cannabis coming from his apartment. Sabo allowed police into his apartment where they allegedly recovered three glass pipes, two grinder, a scale, and about 128 small plastic bags.

DUI

CHARGES

Ranferi Vasquez, 26, of 9422 Potter Rd., Des Plaines, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving with a revoked driver's license, obstructing justice, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, no proof of insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to signal, and improper lane usage. An officer stopped him at 10:42 p.m. Apr. 29 in the 1700 block of East Algonquin Road for allegedly passing a vehicle on the median and not signaling the lane changes associated with that maneuver. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded a .108 on a breath test. Police allegedly recovered a bottle of suspected alcoholic beverage from his vehicle. Vasquez allegedly gave police a fictitious name when first stopped; officers used his fingerprints to identify him.

ALCOHOL

CHARGES

David Leyva, 28, of 2179 Ash St., Des Plaines, was charged with encouraging the delinquency of a minor; Hector Soriano, 20, of 1756 Howard Ave., Des Plaines, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Officers found the two men, and about 15 empty beer bottles, in a storage shed behind Leyva's home at 12:19 a.m. May 3.

RETAIL THEFT

CHARGED

Hugo Vazquez, 21, of 900 Perrie St. #6A, Elk Grove Village, was charged with petit theft at 7:45 p.m. Apr. 30. Police stopped him at Kmart, 1155 E. Oakton St., after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for shoes valued at $21.79.

BURGLARIES

AND THEFTS

Someone broke a glass door and entered Radio Shack, 1587 Lee St., between 12:20 and 12:50 a.m. May 1. They took a global positioning system and $300 cash from a register. Police searched the area with canine units but did not locate the suspect.

A window was broken and $40 cash was taken from a business in the 500 block of Potter Road between 7 p.m. Apr. 30 and 7 a.m. May 1.

Tools valued at a total of $16,700 were taken from a trailer in the 200 block of South Graceland Avenue between 7 p.m. May 2 and 9 a.m. May 3.

A taxi fare meter and a CB radio were taken from a white 1999 Lincoln in the 1300 block of East Howard Avenue between 11 p.m. May 1 and 4 a.m. May 2.

Someone took several handguns during a burglary at Maxons, 1226 Rand Rd. Video surveillance tapes show the suspect entering the store at about 2:18 a.m. May 4, taking the guns, and fleeing.

Someone broke a window and entered an apartment in the 1500 block of East Brown Street between 7:40 a.m. and 4:55 p.m. May 2. Nothing appeared taken from the residence.

VANDALISM

REPORTS

A window was broken on a black 1991 Ford Bronco in the first block of Fletcher Drive between 9 p.m. Apr. 30 and 8 p.m. May 1.

Someone damaged a mailbox in the 300 block of North Eighth Avenue between 2:30 and 5 p.m. Apr. 30.

Graffiti was drawn on a business in the 1400 block of Lee Street before 1:35 a.m. May 2.

The door was scratched on a black 2008 Scion xB in the 300 block of Dover Drive between 4:30 p.m. May 3 and 8 a.m. May 4.

Someone punctured all four tires on a white 2004 Nissan Altima in the first block of West Dover Drive between 6 p.m. May 1 and noon May 2.

Graffiti was drawn on a seating area at the downtown Metra station, 1501 Miner St., before 10:48 a.m. May 4.
