Senior Housing Fair Features Lifestyle Info

Making their own lifestyle choices is what seniors have done all their lives.

To keep the decision-making power, Frisbie Senior Center and the Human Resource Division of the City of Des Plaines have slated a Senior Housing Fair for Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Everyone is invited to learn about the different services available to seniors. Information empowers you," stated Sally Thomphsen, corporate donor relations representative at Frisbie Senior Center. "We're having vendors from retirement communities, nursing homes and multiple senior service participants, raffles and giveaways."

Thomphsen said that vendors will not only promote their services, but also provide resources needed so future decisions can be made during a less stressful time. The best interests of seniors is the objective.

"Numerous places will give free tours so talk to the reps and get to know them," added Thomphsen. "Knowing you're not alone, that your peers are making the same decisions helps."
