Church Seeks Building For Prayer Groups
A small Bolingbrook church is seeking Des Plaines' permission to establish a place of worship in a building located near Oakton and Lee streets.
Grace International Maranatha Church needs a city-issued Conditional Use Permit to conduct services in a building at 1555 Times Drive. The building is the former site of the federal OSHA offices now owned by Nick Mitchell of Grazie Restaurant. The restaurant is located across the street.
Plans call for the church to operate out of a single room inside the building. Mitchell said "it will be more of a prayer group" than full church services.
Members of the Des Plaines Zoning Board of Appeals are scheduled to review plans on Tuesday, May 27 in City Hall at 7:30 p.m.
City code requires the issuance of a Conditional Use Permit when a church wants to operate in a C-3 Commercial district.
