Maine 'Incumbents' Start Building Spring 2009 Campaign Warchest
By TODD WESSELL

A third Maine Township political party that's expected to field a formidable slate of candidates in next spring's township election, has so far accumulated a warchest of more than $12,000.
The organization, Maine Township Incumbents, is comprised mostly of current Republican Maine Township office holders such as Supervisor Carol Teschky and Highway Commissioner Robert Provenzano. They are making plans to seek reelection next April as a formal slate having split from the Maine Township Regular Republican Organization.
The most recent campaign disclosure report filed by Maine Township Incumbents for the period of July 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2007 shows that the political party had $12,565.80 on hand as of Dec. 31. It had no money on July 1 due to the fact that it had just formed.
In a recent front page story in the Journal & Topics Newspapers, it was reported that the Maine Township Regular Democratic Organization had $10,069.20 on hand as of Dec. 31 and the Maine Republican Organization $556.73. It's generally believed that local political fundraising will pick up steam in the months leading to the election.
Among the contributors to Maine Township Incumbents are: Chicagoland Trenchless Rehabilitation, Inc., Glenview, $500; Cleveland Corp., Zion, $300; Damiano Service, Des Plaines, $250; John Kelly, Orland Park, $500; Mertis Construction, Broadview, $300; Barton & Barton, LTD, Park Ridge, $500; NJL, Inc., Des Plaines, $250; Richard Sayad, Des Plaines, $300; Red's Body Shop, Glenview, $200; Racine Metals, LLC, Racine, Wisc., $200; Parkway Bank & Trust, Harwood Hts., $250; Seton Engineering, Palatine, $200; Selvaggi Concrete, Co., Rolling Meadows, $500; Carol Teschky, Glenview, $800; Tiny Tim Tree Service, LLC., $500; Donald Versen, Des Plaines, $200; and Richard Wendt, Oak Lawn, $200.
Money transferred in to the organization included: $500 from Citizens for M. David Johnson, Glenview; Committee to Elect Laura Morask, Park Ridge, $750; and Maine Township Republican Women, Des Plaines, $200.
Two expenditures listed were for printing, $245; and to Grazie Restaurant in Des Plaines, $1,229.20 where the Incumbents held a fundraising party in December.
