'Friday Night Live' Back This Summer

Life is being restored to "Friday Night Live".
The Des Plaines Special Events Commission is bringing back the entertainment venue, tentatively planned for weeks in late June and July.
Sister Clare Marie Kozicki is spearheading the effort to revive the event, with assistance from fellow committee member Tim Vana.
Kozicki already is scoping local talent to fill the stage. Performances will run for four Friday nights this summer.
"I've been going and watching performances and if I'm entertained, I ask for their card and if they would be interested in what we're doing," she said. Among the talent being sought are music acts and theater performers. Kozicki, a former member of the Theater Guild in downtown Chicago, said she is comfortable scouring the city for talent.
"Theater, shows and acting, that's my thing," she said. "I like that I've been given the opportunity to experience people's creativity."
Friday Night Live, which has been dormant the past few years, will need to be scheduled around other prominent events in Des Plaines.
"We didn't want to start it early in June when the Taste of Des Plaines is going on," she said. "We want to give people a chance to recover."
Sister Clare Marie said as of now, the events will begin later in June, but will skip one week, due to Independence Day celebrations.
"That's another big event here and we want to avoid doing more that weekend," she said. "The commission already is busy enough with that weekend with the parade and fireworks."
It is definite that the location will differ from previous Friday Night Live events. Kozicki said Metropolitan Square will serve as the site of this year's events, as opposed to Library Plaza in the past.
