FIRE

A car in a body shop yard caught on fire the night of Sept. 12. The silver 1996 Nissan Sentra had been involved in an accident that afternoon and towed to MK Auto Body, 955 Rand Rd. A call came in at 9:21 p.m. that the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Des Plaines firefighters cut a lock off the gate to enter the yard and extinguished the blaze.

CHARGED

Daniel B. Cannella, 25, of 3315 N. Bayview Lane, McHenry, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct at 8:43 a.m. Sept. 9. At 1:47 a.m., police found him on the roof of a parking garage in the 700 block of Pearson Street. He was allegedly yelling into the window of an apartment. Officers took him to the home of a nearby relative. At 8:43 a.m., police were called back to the apartment building. Cannella was inside the building, allegedly pounding on an apartment door and screaming obscenities. Officers arrested him and charged him for each instance.

DRUG

ARREST

Paul Danielewski, 29, of 435 S. Alles St., Des Plaines, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol content more than .08 percent, and failure to signal. An officer stopped him at 2:34 a.m. Sept. 15 in front of his home after he allegedly failed to signal a turn at Golf and Rand roads. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and later recorded more than the legal limit on a breath test. During a search, police allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a metal pipe from his pocket.

An 18-year-old Palatine man was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11:24 p.m. Sept. 12. Police arrested him in the 200 block of West Dulles Street during an investigation of a suspicious vehicle.

VEHICLES

Someone took a black and silver 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse from the 100 block of Dover Drive between 10 p.m. Sept. 13 and 7 a.m. Sept. 14.

A white 1994 Chevrolet van was taken from the 1400 block of Campbell Avenue between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 15. The vehicle, containing tools valued at $30,000, was left unlocked with the keys in the center console, the owner told police.

Someone broke a window and took a bag containing a digital camera and a wallet from a gray 2003 Toyota. The burglary occurred between 5:15 and 6:13 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 1100 block of East Howard Avenue.

An unlocked bicycle was taken from the 2200 block of South Birch Street between 4 and 6 p.m. Sept. 11.

A set of golf clubs and a mountain bike were taken from a garage in the 700 block of Graceland Avenue. The burglary occurred between 6 p.m. Sept. 12 and 7 a.m. Sept. 13.

Someone took a bicycle from an apartment storage locker in the 700 block of South Elmhurst Road before 1:10 p.m. Sept. 13.

A bicycle was taken from the 2200 block of Birch Street before 4:20 p.m. Sept. 12.

Graffiti was spray-painted on a building wall in the 1800 block of South Pine Street between midnight and 11:50 a.m. Sept. 12.

Someone broke a windshield on a white 1995 Chrysler Cirrus in the 1300 block of Lee Street between 8 p.m. Sept. 11 and 7 a.m. Sept. 12.

Graffiti was spray-painted on a building in the 1600 block of South River Road between 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and 7 a.m. Sept. 12.

A glass front door and three windows were broken on a business in the 1300 block of Lee Street between 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 7:45 a.m. Sept. 12.

A gray 2006 Pontiac G6 was scratched in the 2500 block of Devon Avenue between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13.

Someone spray-painted graffiti on a fence, a sign, and a telephone service box in the 500 block of Polynesian Drive between 11 p.m. Sept. 12 and 7 a.m. Sept. 13.

A white substance was thrown on a brown 1990 Lexus at Pine Street and Highland Drive between 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 1 p.m. Sept. 13.

A home in the 1700 block of Farwell Avenue was toilet-papered between 9:05 and 10 p.m. Sept. 15.

A window was broken on a black 1998 Dodge Durango in the 1800 block of South River Road between midnight and 9:50 a.m. Sept. 16.

Two windows were broken on a black 2004 Nissan Frontier in the 1400 block of South River Road between 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 and 5 p.m. Sept. 16.

Someone tipped over a portable toilet in the 1700 block of Locust Street before 6:48 a.m. Sept. 15.

The windshield was broken on a gray 2002 Honda Accord in the 1600 block of Howard Avenue between 10 p.m. Sept. 14 and 7:40 a.m. Sept. 15.

A window was broken on a blue 1997 Mercury Village in the 1500 block of East Everett Avenue between 3:30 and 6:15 p.m. Sept. 14.

Someone broke a window on a silver 1992 Chevrolet Corsica in the 1700 block of East Algonquin Road between midnight and 11:05 a.m. Sept. 16.

All four tires were punctured on a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer in the 100 block of North River Road between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and 7:06 a.m. Sept. 14.
