ROAD

RAGE ARREST

Romuald Kucharski, 47, of 18 E. Old Willow Rd., Prospect Heights, was charged with battery on Aug. 16. A 52-year-old Des Plaines man told police he pulled into the Speedway Gas station at 885 Touhy Ave. at 4:50 p.m. that afternoon and tapped his horn to the vehicle in front of him. Kucharski allegedly got out of his vehicle, walked back to the other man's car, and began arguing with him. He allegedly reached through the window and struck the man in the head with his open hand. When the victim got out of his vehicle, Kucharski allegedly pushed him in the chest then fled. Prospect Heights officers apprehended him a short time later.

TRESPASS

ALLEGED

Michael Spena, 28, of 815 E. Oakton St., Des Plaines, was charged with criminal trespass to residence, disorderly conduct, and resisting a police officer. Police were called to the 800 block of East Oakton where Spena allegedly entered a home through an unlocked front door at 9:47 a.m. Aug. 14. Residents asked him to leave several times but he allegedly remained until one of them chased him from the home. Officers found him walking nearby but he ran when police approached. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

DISORDERLY

CONDUCT

Michael Louis, 24, of 1243 Brown St., Des Plaines, and Donald P. Ericksen, 24, of 2000 Glenview Ave., Park Ridge, were charged with disorderly conduct at 2:34 a.m. Aug. 20. The two men allegedly had a loud argument outside, screaming obscenities at each other, disturbing other residents in the area, according to the police report.

DRUG

ARRESTS

Angela M. Jones, 23, of 7700 Blivin St., Spring Grove, Ill., was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 14. Police arrested her during a patrol of the parking lot at Extended Stay, 1201 E. Touhy Ave. During a search, officers allegedly recovered a cloth bag containing suspected marijuana and a glass pipe.

Michael J. Hayes, 22, of 857 Beau Drive, Des Plaines, was charged with possession of cannabis at 8:02 p.m. July 30. Police arrested him at Stadium Club, 769 W. Holiday Lane when they allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana from his pocket during an investigation of a possible theft.

Elena M. Disabato, 28, of 3841 N. Kenmore Ave., Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 3:35 p.m. Aug. 18. Police allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine from inside her purse during a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Miner Street. The driver of the car, Robert L. Jeremias, 33, of 8954 Church St., Des Plaines, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and suspended registration.

Franklin P. Pope, 26, of 1783 Chrysler Drive, Belvidere, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked driver's license, and disobeying a traffic control device. An officer stopped him at 3:29 p.m. Aug. 17 on Touhy Avenue near Mannheim Road after he allegedly turned right on a red light against a sign. During a search, police allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a digital scale.

DUI

ARREST

John Fridstrom, 44, of 1601 Manhatas St., Algonquin, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked driver's license at 4:01 a.m. Aug. 17. Police stopped him in the 1700 block of Mannheim Road. No further details of the stop were released.

ALCOHOL

ARRESTS

Police arrested four people during a hotel party at Best Western Hotel, 1231 S. Lee St. They charged James E. Kusch Jr., 21, of 597 W. Comstock Ave., Elmhurst, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They charged Krystal M. Hanson, 20, of 900 Centennial Drive, Mt. Prospect, Justin A. Kelly, 20, of 960 North Ave., Des Plaines, and Cynthia L. Streng, 20, of 2231 S. Ash St., Des Plaines, with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Officers were called to the hotel at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 17 for a report of a loud party. When they entered the room, the three 20-year-olds allegedly admitted their age and that they had been drinking beer, according to the police report.

Hubert A. Chlosta, 19, of 9458 Bay Colony Drive, Des Plaines, and Kiron C. Thomas, 19, of 9428 Meadow Lane, Des Plaines, were charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor at 5:53 p.m. Aug. 17. Police allegedly recovered two bottles of liquor from inside Chlosta's vehicle during a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Ballard Road.

NO PERMIT

ALLEGED

Rene Diaz, 57, of 5122 W. Medill St., Chicago, was charged with solicitation without a permit at 1:53 p.m. Aug. 17. An officer stopped his ice cream truck in the 100 block of Jeffrey Lane for allegedly turning without a turn signal. He was arrested for allegedly not having a proper Des Plaines permit.

RETAIL

THEFT

Chester Olejniczak, 44, of no permanent address, was charged with retail theft at 12:55 p.m. Aug. 19. Police arrested him at Shop N Save in Metropolitan Square after he allegedly tried to leave without paying for a 6-pack of beer valued at $3.99.

BURGLARIES

AND THEFTS

A bicycle was taken from the 600 block of Jill Court between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

Someone forced open the door of a home in the 2100 block of South Webster Lane between 12:30 and 3:39 p.m. Aug. 14. Nothing appeared taken from the residence.

Four sound systems valued at $500 each were taken from a warehouse in the 100 block of East Oakton Street. The burglary occurred between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11 a.m. Aug. 13.

A man in his 30s took a purse from an office at Dominick's Finer Foods, 1555 S. Lee St., and removed checkbooks, credit cards, identification, and $12 cash. Security tapes show the man taking the purse into a restroom at 9:56 a.m. Aug. 14 then fleeing from the store. The purse and the rest of its contents were recovered from the restroom.

Three men pushed the rider to the ground and took a bicycle in the 300 block of North Third Avenue. The incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. Aug. 14.

Someone took a bicycle from the 700 block of Fifth Court between 5:30 and 7 p.m. Aug. 15.

A bicycle was taken from in front of a home in the 400 block of South Dara James Road before 6 a.m. Aug. 12.

A man in his 30s took an air conditioner from a vacant apartment in the 600 block of Colonial Lane at 3:48 p.m. Aug. 15. An employee of the apartment complex tried to stop him, but he got into a black Chevrolet van and escaped.

A window was broken and a global positioning system taken from a gray 2007 Mitsubishi Gallant between 8 p.m. Aug. 14 and 6 a.m. Aug. 15.

Someone broke a window and took a global positioning system from a white 2006 Ford F550 in the 1900 block of Laura Lane between 3:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and 6 a.m. Aug. 17.

A green city-issued garbage can was taken from the 600 block of Nelson Lane between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Aug. 17.

Someone took an American flag and pole from the 300 block of Stratford Road between Aug. 17 and 9 a.m. Aug. 18.

A window was broken and a global positioning system taken from a maroon 2001 Ford Excursion in the 400 block of Stratford Road between 10 p.m. Aug. 14 and 5 a.m. Aug. 15.

An unknown amount of cash was taken from a washing machine in an apartment laundry room. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. Aug. 16 and 11 a.m. Aug. 18 in the 400 block of South Oak Street.

VANDALISM

REPORTS

Someone wrote illegible words on the side of a building in the first block of Broadway Street. The damage occurred between 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and 10 a.m. Aug. 14.

A tan 2004 Buick LeSabre was scratched in the 1500 block of East Ashland Avenue between midnight Aug. 13 and 8 p.m. Aug. 14.

Someone slashed all four tires on a black 2007 Toyota Camry in the 2200 block of Ash Street. The damage occurred between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and 10 a.m. Aug. 18.

Someone struck a blue 2007 Honda CR-V with a tire and rim from a Mercedes in the 1100 block of West Grant Street. The damage occurred between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and 6:20 a.m. Aug. 17.

Someone spray-painted a building and sidewalk in the 1300 block of Perry Street and a mailbox at Perry and Laurel Avenue between 9 p.m. Aug. 18 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 19.

A house was egged and bleach poured onto a lawn in the 600 block of Castlerea Lane between 1 and 3 a.m. Aug. 13. The homeowner reported it to police on Aug. 19 after her grass began to die from the bleach.
