BB
SHOT
A 47-year-old Des Plaines man told police he was riding his bicycle in the 300 block of King Lane at 5:15 p.m. July 21 when a silver and green SUV passed him. As the vehicle went by, he heard a loud pop and felt a sharp pain in his side. The man discovered he had been shot with a BB, but refused medical attention. Four people were inside the vehicle, a witness told police.
ROAD
RAGE
A 38-year-old Carol Stream man reported an incident of road rage to police on July 19. He was driving on Touhy Avenue at 8:30 a.m. when a man in a brown 2002 Chevrolet Malibu cut him off. When he responded by blowing his horn, the other driver allegedly repeatedly slammed on his brakes. When the two vehicles stopped for a red light, the other driver allegedly walked back to the victim's car and screamed several obscenities at him threatening to kill him. The victim called 911 on his cellular telephone and the offender got back into his car and fled. The Malibu registers to an address in Algonquin, police said.
ILLEGAL
DUMPING
Kurian Thottchirayil, 54, of 2207 Sprucewood Drive, Des Plaines, was charged with illegal dumping at 4:15 p.m. July 18. While having concrete work done at his home, he allegedly instructed a worker to dump concrete into a sewer. Officials from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District came to the scene and determined an emergency cleanup was needed. Thottchiravil will be liable for the cost of the cleanup, according to the police report.
Someone dumped a large pile of asphalt in a yard in the 300 block of Howard Avenue between 4 p.m. July 18 and 7 a.m. July 19.
TRESPASS
CHARGED
James W. Bolkovatz, 37, of 2804 75th Ave., Elmwood Park, was charged with criminal trespass to property at 4:32 a.m. July 22. He was allegedly inside Best Western Hotel, 1231 Lee St., after being asked to leave several times by employees, according to the police report.
DRUG
ARRESTS
Matthew C. Strand, 19, of 374 Lee St., Des Plaines, was charged with possession of cannabis at 6:31 p.m. July 22. Police arrested him at Pine Court and Everett Avenue while investigating a report of drinking in public. During a search, officers allegedly recovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana from his pocket.
Michael W. Ott, 29, of 805 Seeley Ave. #1B, Park Ridge, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 5:38 p.m. July 20. Police arrested him in the 600 block of Pearson Street after allegedly seeing a hand-to-hand transaction between him and another man. During a search, police allegedly recovered two plastic bags containing suspected cocaine.

INCIDENTS
Jeffery L. Kaufman, 23, of 510 Seegers Rd., Des Plaines, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police arrested him at his apartment at 2:30 a.m. July 23. Officers also charged Timothy L. Bass, 19, of 1302 Louise St., Crystal Lake, Matthew S. Keating, 20, of 313 Fairfield Ave., Island Lake, Kimberly A. Jones, 19, of 9709 May St., Algonquin, and Allison V. Clampitt, 19, of 580 Lucille St., South Elgin, with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Jonathan E. Higdon, 19, of 1315 Hazel Court, Des Plaines, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor at his home at 12:07 a.m. July 22. Police responded to a call of a party with underage drinking and held 12 people for questioning. Four were released without charges. Officers also cited Higdon for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor along with Christopher E. Medina, 19, of 770 Tonne Rd., Elk Grove Village, and Scott K. Ryan, 20, of 688 Madelyn Drive, Elisabeth G. Tuman, 19, of 929 Walter Ave., Jackie A. Vance, 19, of 780 Timothy Lane, Marina M. Middleton, 19, of 1305 Wayne Drive, Michael Vistain, 20, of 1450 E. Forest Ave., and Justin D. Murphy, 19, of 269 E. Golf Rd., all of Des Plaines.
BURGLARIES
AND THEFTS
An unreleased amount of cash was taken from a restaurant in the 600 block of East Touhy Avenue at about 2:05 a.m. July 19. A window was broken on a door of the business, setting off a burglar alarm, police said.
An mp3 player and about $6 in change was taken from a maroon 2003 Buick Rendezvous in the 1800 block of Spruce Avenue between 11:45 p.m. July 17 and 9 a.m. July 18.
Tools valued at nearly $3,000 were taken from a red 2004 Chevrolet in the first block of North Westgate Road between 10 p.m. July 17 and 5:30 a.m. July 18.
Clothing, bags, and makeup were taken from a black 1997 Jeep Cherokee in the 1000 block of Margaret Street between 1 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. July 20.
Fifteen CDs, two pairs of glasses, and about $5 in change were taken from a green 2007 Honda Pilot in the 900 block of Margaret Street. The burglary occurred between 10:30 p.m. July 19 and noon July 20.
Someone took a pipe from a white 2001 Saturn SL2 in the 900 block of South Second Avenue between noon July 12 and 8:30 a.m. July 19.
Someone took a satellite radio, four chargers, headsets, a remote, and several DVDs from an unlocked red 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan in the 2800 block of Craig Drive. The burglary occurred between 7 p.m. July 18 and 6 a.m. July 19. A green 1994 Chrysler Town & Country was entered during the same time period, but nothing was taken from that vehicle.
A change purse with identification, keys, and about $35 cash was taken from an unlocked blue 1996 Pontiac Sunfire in the 1800 block of Orchard Street between 10 p.m. July 18 and 7:30 a.m. July 19.
A window was broken and a gas saw valued at $400 was taken from a white 1999 Ford F250 in the 800 block of Webster Lane between 5 p.m. July 18 and 5 a.m. July 19.
Someone took a stop sign from the corner of Dover Drive and Pennsylvania Avenue between 12:30 p.m. July 19 and 9:01a.m. July 20.
The steering column was damaged on a silver 2000 Hyundai Accent during an apparent theft attempt in the 2600 block of Craig Drive. The incident occurred between 10:30 p.m. July 20 and 7:30 a.m. July 21.
Three men in a blue and silver 1994 Chevrolet pickup took an unknown amount of catalytic converters from a muffler shop in the 1100 block of East Oakton Street. An employee found the men inside the shop at 12:04 p.m. July 20. They fled before officers arrived at the scene.
A washer and dryer were taken from a driveway in the 2400 block of Ballard Road between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. July 20. The owner placed the appliances in the driveway while completing remodeling work inside the home.
Electric wire valued at $8,221 was taken from a business in the 600 block of Graceland Avenue between 11 a.m. July 2 and 1 p.m. July 3.

REPORTS
Someone scratched a silver 2007 Honda Accord at O'Hare Honda/Hyundai, 1533 River Rd., between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. July 17.
Three windows were broken on a building in the 100 block of Eighth Avenue between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. July 18.
Graffiti was drawn in a restroom at the downtown train depot, 1501 E. Miner St., between 10:20 a.m. July 17 and 10:20 a.m. July 18.
A house window was shot with a BB in the 100 block of King Lane between 5 and 5:30 p.m. July 21.
A window was broken at a church in the 1000 block of East Thacker Street between 6:30 p.m. July 21 and 7:30 a.m. July 22.
An outside lamp was broken in the 200 block of Cambridge Avenue between 11 p.m. July 19 and 9:43 a.m. July 20.
Someone spray-painted graffiti on a garage in the 1700 block of East Stockton Avenue between midnight and 9:15 a.m. July 2.
A tire was slashed on a silver 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis in the 700 block of West Algonquin Road between 9 p.m. July 18 and 8 a.m. July 19.
Someone punctured a tire on a red 1997 Nissan Pathfinder in the 900 block of Carlow Drive between 11:55 p.m. July 18 and 1 a.m. July 19.
