Italian Joint Set For MP
A 2,400 sq. ft. Italian restaurant is expected to open for business at 90 E. Busse Ave. in downtown Mt. Prospect, beginning in August, according to Director of Community Development Bill Cooney.
The restaurant, called Canta Napoli, will move into the lower level of The Emerson development, located at the corner of Busse Avenue and Emerson Street and will feature wood burning oven pizzas and other Italian dishes.
The establishment will accommodate 100-combined indoor and outdoor seating and feature a full-service bar, according to owner Adina Gherman.
"We chose that area in Mt. Prospect because we liked the location and it will be a great advantage being next to the Blues Bar," said Gherman, who has lived in Mt. Prospect for the past two years.
She said she looked at other locations throughout the village, but the downtown area was the most "desirable."
According to Gherman, this new restaurant will create approximately 10 jobs.
The restaurant is expected to operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
Gherman said she is waiting for permits to be approved by the village. Once the village gives approval, Gherman will begin to move in. Permit applications were submitted to the village a couple weeks ago, she said.
"We are thinking about having a grand opening, but we have to talk to the builders (Norwood) before we do anything," added Gherman. Canta Napoli is part of the second phase at The Emerson. Other tenants that have or will move into the The Emerson development include: Vino 100, Elements Diet and Fitness, and Acqua Nails. This will be the first business moving into the highly visible corner unit of the building, according to Cooney.
