"Hidden Treasures: 3 Days of Discovery," an opening and benefit for California Closests, 1130 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Glenview, takes place this week. A ribbon cutting will be held each day, May 8-10, at 7:30 p.m. at the store in the new Abt Design Center. All proceeds from donations of $30 will go to various charities. "An Evening for Networking" is set for Thursday, May 8, benefiting Children's Memorial Hospital. On Friday, "An Evening for Socializing" will benefit the organization Pathways. "An Evening for Families" on Saturday will help Healthy Child Healthy World.

Koenig & Strey GMAC's Glenview office has been selected to represent Schmidt Luxury Homes in the marketing and sales of its newest "Green Luxury Home" located at 724 Laramie in east Glenview. "The 2,800 square foot property will be showcased on Wednesday, May 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m," said marketing agent Vicki Betsios. The home is furnished with a long list of renewable and "green" materials including bamboo flooring, zero VOC paints, wheat-board cabinetry and more. The home is constructed to optimize energy performance with a number of energy efficient systems such as a Carrier heat pump, electric on-demand hot water heating system and more.

At the April board meeting of North Suburban United Way, Jim Jennings of Jennings Chevrolet and Volkswagen, was recognized for 15 years of outstanding service to United Way. The award was presented by board President Marla Friedman. Jim served on the board of the United Way of Glenview from 1994-98 and has served as chairman of the Glenview campaign since 1998. United Way provides leadership and resources to help people in the community become independent.

Bruce W. Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Capital Group, Inc. and Mark Hoppe, president and CEO of Rosemont-based Cole Taylor Bank, announced that Lawrence G. Ryan, of Glenview, has joined the company as executive vice president of Commercial Banking. Ryan is a 27-year veteran of LaSalle Bank, where he focused on developing the market for financing the needs of closely held businesses. He played a leadership role in building the Metropolitan Banking Group of LaSalle Bank, a business banking unit that served companies with sales between $10 million and $50 million, where he was group senior vice president.

Sally Larson Sargent, of Glenview, was recently named senior vice president and head of personal trust administration of MB Financial Bank. Sargent brings over 30 years of trusts and estates experience to MB. She previously served as senior vice president and national head of personal trust at Harris Private Bank.

LIN-MAR Motors will hold its 7th annual Open House on June 7, from noon til 6 p.m. at its home base, 7860 N. Lehigh Avenue, Morton Grove, in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary. Music will be supplied by The Neverly Brothers, a Chicago-area rock 'n roll band featuring music from the 50's and 60's. A car show will include customs, restorations, muscle cars and more.
