Zoning Board Pleased With Rent-A-Car Plans

Plans for a proposed Enterprise Rent-A-Car went before two Park Ridge commissions as the business draws closer to reality.

The Park Ridge Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing for a special use permit at its meeting on Monday, Apr. 14. The permit was needed due to "potential for impact on the neighboring area," according to Carrie Davis acting community preservation and development director. "Everyone was pretty pleased," she said. The company presented their case and some residents spoke. "There were some general comments about the lighting and brightness of the lighting," she said.

However, everyone seemed in agreement to the proposal that included landscaping, a reduced number of curb cuts, and the installation of sidewalks. "The improvements proposed were a vast improvement over what's there now," Davis added.

The Park Ridge Appearance Commission considered detailed plans for the business at the meeting on Thursday, Apr. 17.

Enterprise suggested the business to replace the former Denny's auto repair shop at 2315 Oakton Street.
