Anesthesiologist Building, Talcott Garage Up For Remodelings
Several commercial projects, 26 home renovations, and three new houses led the March building report for the city of Park Ridge.
The American Society of Anesthesiologists plans a remodeling project of nearly $150,000 at its office at 520 N. Northwest Highway. The society plans the installation of cubicles and associated electrical wiring.
Other businesses remodeling include an office at 1030 Higgins Rd. and a hair salon at 1 N. Northwest Highway. In addition, First United Methodist Church at 418 W. Touhy Ave., plans minor electrical work including outside light fixtures.
Another major project is the gutting and rebuilding of an underground parking garage at a multi-family unit at 2400 W. Talcott Rd. That project is valued at $1.5 million and carries a permit fee of $19.269.
The report also shows demolition permits for five homes and construction permits for five garages. This month is slower than March of 2007. The city issued 307 permits for $119 million in work last month; this year it issued only 133 for $7.4 million. Park Ridge received only $86,643 in fees in March 2008 as opposed to nearly $1 million during the previous year.
The same comparison holds for the first quarter of each year. The first three months of 2007 showed 508 permits for $133 million in work bringing in almost $1.1 million in fees. The same quarter of 2008 had the city issuing 336 permits reflecting $13 million in work and $191,001 in fees.
March permits for homes included 13 fences, nine hot water tanks, four for siding, two decks, one roof, and one patio.
